I think they're both pretty hot, but people were eager to find a new Anna that *won*. Maria has two grand slam titles under her belt, and that makes her much more than just a pretty face. Don't even know if Anna has won any regular titles.
I will say this, after watching Maria win the Open and how she reacted, she seems really immature. But then again she's only 19.

Maria Sharapova is a great looking young woman but Anna Kournakova is probably the best looking female athlete there ever was.

I must agree that neither of them is the hotest, I think the contest must stand between Jelena Demantieva, Anastasia Myskina, Ana Ivanovic or Martina Hingis

I know you might not believe this coming from a man, but I think Looks matter far less than personality.
And when it comes to personality, Sharapova is about as ugly as it gets!

no offence to anyone, i don't think anna was hot or pretty. maria is at least pretty. not really hot... just pretty. also, maria doesn't really use tennis as a gateway to fame. she's good at tennis and still sticks with it.
