There is no official records for this, since the length a home run travels is not offically determined. The vast majority of reported lengths, particuarly in pre-video days are exaggerations. Especially when you hear 600+ feet. It is unlikey that the equipment used at the time (and the velocities generated) would allow such a feat to occur. That Mantle home run is an example of the hype associated with such things, there is no hard evidence that it went that distance. Longest homerun I ever saw was McGuire during his 'historic' season. Upper tank of the Houston Astrodome and still rising. Amazing what you can do with modern medicine.

Nobody knows how far people hit homeruns back in the days of Mantle. Anyone who gives an exact number for the length of any hit during his time or before is giving an estimate, which has proven in history to be wildly exaggerated. The fact that hitters today on steroids with better workouts cant hit the ball that far tells you that the numbers given in old days 550+ feet are probably fabricated.

Longest US Major League home in a game that counted was Mickey Mantle's against Washington Senators. I believe it was measured at 565 feet on the fly and over 640 on the roll.

It became the first 'tape measure' home run.
