Does anyone agree that the ONLY solution to the rising aids rate amoung african americans is protection?

I understand that the aids rate is rising at an alarming rate amoung black women as oppose to women of other races but why isn't protection and the use of condoms being utilized more by black women if such is the case? black women catch way more slack about the alarming aids rate that they contracted in the first place from irresponsible, misguided black men and why? Also, black women are not the only race of women sleeping with these dogs with fleas but seem to be the to be only ones waking up itching. I think black women are probably the only ones who are not taking careful steps in protecting themselves why is that?

Issues of self esteem that might prompt anyone to have unprotected sex exist in all races and every gender of humanity.

It's not that black women aren't protecting themselves, at least not entirely. The problem is that many black men are having sex with men on the down-low or DL. African-American society doesn't allow men to be gay and the see it as a white man's thing. If a black man were to come out of the closet he could possibly lose EVERYTHING, literally. A black man is supposed to stand up and be a real man--have a nice job, get married and have children. So what's happening is a black man in the closet gets married, has kids but sleeps with other men, comes home and continues to have sex with his wife. It's a safe bet that protection is not used so HIV/AIDS is definitely being spread. Right now a lot of black women are find out they are HIV-positive. As far as I am concerned the African-American community needs to let go of this homophobia because it is only hurting us!!

We need more communication in our community. AIDS is still a taboo subject in our community, and ignorance on the subject is still rampant. For example, I just buried on of my friends from the disease. When I told my peers about his death and how he died, the first thing they asked was, "Was he gay?" Ignorance is whats killing our people. We need many leaders to step up like the white gays did when the disease reared its ugly head in the 80's

As far as men on the down, I AM SICK AND TIRED OF PEOPLE SAYING THAT ONLY BLACK MEN HAVE SEX ON THE DOWN LOW!!!! White men have sex "on the dl", they just don't call it down low, they say "meet with someone discreetly," just like Hispanic men ( which are right behind blacks in HIV infection). Look at the governor of New Jersey that stepped down because he had a secret relationship with a man AND HE WAS MARRIED! Besides, that is not the main reason why black women are infected with HIV. What about men that sleep with other women and catch the disease? My stepnieces father just died from AIDS because he contracted it from a woman!!!
Furthermore, I hate to put in government conspiracy theories, but i'll just say I think the government knows more than what they are telling us. Anyone that knows about the Tuskegee Studies knows exactly what I'm talking about. But even if that were true, we as black people need to come together to slow this epidemic!

Irresponsible men are the reason for all the things wrong with women. They are not loving fathers, loving teachers, loving breadwinners. Irresponsible men are the bain to our society. I say we kill 'em.

Men are like parking spaces, the good ones are taken and the rest are HANDICAPPED!
