sounds pretty normal to me. Especially since she was month early and was kind of smaller than the average size- what matters most is that she is healthy, growing and developing just like she is suppose to. Babies that are big/heavy are nothing to really worry about anyhow, because once they start walking and running they will slim down any how. Don't worry about her weight at this point. ;o)
The other thing is- What percentage was she in at the Dr's appt when she weighed the 15 lbs? That is usually a pretty good indication of where she falls compared to other babies her age.

If you have any concerns, just ask your pediatrician at her next xheck-up. My daughter was always a little on the light side according to those silly growth charts that they use. Those things are pretty outdates. Her doctor says that as long as the baby looks healthy and seems to be meeting all of her developmental milestones, the actual weight isn't that important. Every baby is different and some are heavier than other while some aren't as heavy. Try not to worry about it! Think about it, some babies are born weighing 10 pounds or more! I know a woman whose son weighed 20 pounds at 8 months and there wasn't anything wrong with him!

I think that sounds about right. At my daughter's 4 month check up I'm pretty sure she weighted 14 lbs, but she was 8 lbs 6 1/2 oz when she was born - that's a big difference. Just call your doctor's nurse if you have any questions.

My son was born weighing 6lb 5 oz and now he weighs 15 pounds at 4 months. The doctor hasn't said that his weight is abnormal so I can only assume the same for your little one

My son is 3 mo old and weighs 18 ilbs 5 oz. Gonna be a Line Backer someday :) All normal. If the doctor was concerned about the weight, he/she would have said so.
Some babies need the rice cereal and so on before then especially if they are bigger babies. For some babies milk isn't enough to satisfy them. I'm very surprised my son is content with milk with how much he weighs!! If they're hungry, they're hungry, gotta feed 'em!

I feel that it is totally normal. When my toddler was 4 months, we weighed 16 pounds. A real chubby! He was 9 weeks early and weighed only 4 pounds. They say that preemies catch up and actually gain weight faster than a full term baby. Not to worry, she will slow down with the weight.

The best way to check if a weight or height is within normal limits is to plot it on a growth chart. Doctors use a growth chart that compares both height and weight of your child against all other children with the same age and gender.
As a general rule, an infant should double his/ her birth weight by 6 months of age and triple his/ her birth weight at 12 months of age.
On another note, you should introduce solid food at about 6 months of age. There are a number of reasons, such as infants haven't mastered ability to swallow and the digestive tract is still immature and may have difficulty digesting the solids.
When you see your pediatrician again, ask him/ her to plot your child on a growth chart and see what percentile she lies on.

Sounds right. My now 14mth old weighs 24pds.Was 7pds2oz at birth & 17 pds at 4 mths. She really should be on baby cereal at 4 mths &start solids at 6mths.There are many reasons why.The one my doctor always gave was they don't need all the sugars at this age.It really is'nt good for babies. They get everything they need from their formula or breast milk. There digestive system is not ready for foods yet.

I think that is perfectly normal. My Dr says that you should look more at what percentile she is in. My daughter was 17 lbs at her 9 month check up and is slightly underweight.I was worried but the Dr said not to worry that it all evens out in the end.

I wouldn't worry. If there was something to be concerned about, your doctors would have told you by now.
It's more healthy for your little one to heavier than lighter in any case, and once baby can move around, the weight won't be there anymore.
Don't worry, but do talk to your medical caregiver if you are worried, they can put your mind at rest.
