I have a friend who is 22 who is in love with Johnny Depp.
Age difference isn't an issue for me(or her) but I did say "did you know that there is a 22 year difference between you two?"
She stated it wouldn't matter if he was 93. "He is timeless" she said.
hmmm......
Johnny depp aside, what makes someone or some thing timeless?

Well, timelessness to me is about quality.Timelessness can be a value place upon something or someone that which we can appreciate and hold in high regard . In that respect it can get a lil subjective.I think intelligence , grace , kindness are timeless virtues ,noble universalistic values when manifested in a personality makes them shine bright. Really it's about what you stand up for in life that makes a person timeless, a dedication to moral absolutes, peity etc. I guess.
When it comes to art or things man made, then it is the aesthetic value that comes into play.it's meaning and depth in communicating an idea or feeling or whatnot. Whether a piece of music for an instance has the power to move people from across the globe emotionally and simultaneuosly emphasizing the inherent connectedness of humanity makes for the absolute in art, the quality will stand the test of time with continual appreciation by the public through many generations , and honoured as timeless art or as classics.I suppose so, timelessness is like a bird, it's tough to catch it and know it by an artificial definition. It's best left in the wilderness of the undefined.

To me, time is a concept. It is a dimension that we use to measure grow, or the only change at the same spot of space. So, if your friend feels that Johnny Depp is timeless, it means that she is not concern about it at all.
Timeless things don't change or will always be there. To her, it's not about the physical aspect of age that will cause wrinkles, it's about his charisma which will always stay as the way she thinks.
Some of my friends mentioned about Louis Vitton's bag. They say the design of the bag is timeless. In this aspect, it is different again. Whatever the trend is, if you were to carry LV bags, there will be no body who will say, it's out of trend.
Just what I can think of. ^_^

I've explored this question in relation to literature before, and came up with this...
If something continues to evoke emotions similar to those it evoked when it was new and fresh then it can be seen as timeless. The works of Shakespeare for example, there is still an overwhelming greif at the end of his tradgedies.
The notions of good vs evil, love conquering all, commiting terrible atrocities in the name of achieving power... all of these continue to present themselves in today's world, so a work that explores these themes has the potential to never fade.
As for the above example of being in love with Jonny Depp, I can't answer that one. More likely your friend isn't in love with the person but the persona's he plays on the screen.

Timeless is when no matter how much time goes by they, or it, is still the same in the eyes of the beholder. It's doesn't matter how old it or they get...it doesn't change the way you feel or the way you see them. I would think a person who is timeless is someone who is so confident in who they are...they are not influenced, they influence.

Well, I for one, think that age difference shouldn't matter at all in a relationship. There is only a 5 year age difference between my hubby and I, but if I were single, I would certainly leave my age options completely open. I shall say no more on that topic, or I shall plead the fifth, lol.
To me, a person is timeless, in the way that they move, that special look in their eye, the way they smile, the confidence that they exude, the manner with which they approach everything (including me), and the way that they look at life. It has nothing at all to do with their chronological age. It has to do with their inner being and their "mental" age.

There are writings,music and varied arts that I consider "unsullied by time" but that gets at my own subjectivity about timelessness ...

Well, for a thing- a think it's the simplicity of how to make it; it's beauty and the usefulness of the thing. (Watches, knives, lighthouses, etc.)
For people it might be the honesty and uniqueness of the person. Intellect and bearing during conflicts and stress. Never having a bad quality (as listed by "good and "bad" qualities) of other people.

I think that when someone is timeless, it means that they age well..or...things you fell for them will never change in time....
