NASA has other priorities right now. The ISS is top priority. However, once the U.S. finally made it to the moon in 1969, the magic left. It was a priority to beat the Soviets to the moon, not actually get to the moon. It was a political thing in the 60's.

There is nothing there that is of value to us. 1st off there is no atmosphere there.
