does it move or does it just stay there?

Hey I just read a book called "Black Holes" by an Indian author and scientist- Professor Jayant Narlikar. Now, don't you think that your question was just tailor-made for me? LOL

Ok, here's the answer-

A black hole is formed when the attractive forces within a star overcome the explosive forces of nuclear reaction and heat within it.

There is an implosion (opposite of explosion) which sucks the whole mass into it because the force of attraction becomes too much to resist.

So, the black hole is actually "highly condensed matter". In Layman's terms, it is as small as 3 kilometers in diameter and is as heavy as our Sun!

Now, as the attractive force is way too high, it will attract anything near it and shrink it to ridiculous sizes.

So hypothetically, if you'll stand near a black hole and accidentally get sucked in due to the force, the molecules in your body will start coming to close to each other (and you'll die).... you'll become stiff as diamond, and be shrunken to a very very very small size.

Fortunately, you won't be alive to feel the pain as the force will kill you even before you enter the hole.

*Additional Details*

~ I just read a few pages again and I have a few more things to tell you~

The huge attractive forces that cause tides on earth from such a long distance act on you as you fall into a black hole. As the force is towards the center, it will first stretch you lengthwise! So, your head, fingers, legs will start getting longer and longer.

And if you survive that (which is impossible), you'll reach a point where the geometry is a little different. It is the point where the whole star shrinks to a point!

Yes, tiny-miny point with infinite density!!

Around this point the space-time is infinitely curved. Mathematicians call this point as the state of singularity. No laws of physics work here. Space and time have no meaning here.

You can't reach anywhere even if you travel to infinity!

Your clocks won't work there as the time simply doesn't have a meaning! You'll be young (and dead) forever.... if you aren't already torn into pieces due to the extreme stuff.

And if this wasn't unfortunate enough, hear this- "you can't be seen or observed by someone from the outside of the black hole."

There is a horizon called "event horizon" around the black hole, beyond which, no one can see anything! Roger Perose called it CCC (Cosmic Censorship Conjecture) which states that singularity is never naked. It is always covered by an event horizon beyond which, no one can see, without entering the boundaries...

Fascinating. Isn't it?

Batman

It cxdoesnt take you anyhere: you stay inside the black hole. The insane heat melts you, the accretion dis fries you, and the gravity crushes you. You remain in the singularity. However, steven Hawking predicted that black holes are leaking matter in to space at a slow slow rate. This would mean that black hole could slowly disinegrate until they where nothingness. However, this would take a VERY long time...Steven hawking predicted it would take about...10,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 years about. In crontrast, the big bang took place about 14,000,000,000 years ago. So dont be waiting around for something if it was sucked in. And It definatly would not be reconizable anymore from what I explained at the top.

Across the Universe..General Vacuum Relativity is a greater vacuum warp in space and time thus creating a black hole ..

There are a couple of theories. One idea is that, yes, you do become nothing so to speak. You get crushed under the gravitational pull of the black hole, maybe even getting thinned down to a singularity, like being stretched. Another idea is that it is a gateway to another part of the universe or even another universe all together, a wormhole. This idea is not exactly new. I think even Einstein thought about this towards the end of his life.

black hole is a really poor name for these objects. they are not "holes" at all. asking where you go if you "fall" into a black hole is no different than saying where do you go when you fall into the sun. a black hole is not some sort of "hole" as you find at the bottom of a sink, it is a spherical object, much like the sun, it just happens to be much more dense and usually more massive, you go into it, much like you would go into the sun

they are black holes which have no visible light that we can measure, anyplace even remotely close. They are thought to be very magnetic and suck things in. It is unknown if anytjing can survive it. I'd think that if enough space particles get in there, it eventually can form a planet somewhere.

Black holes have gravity so high that u would be crushed to size of a flee or less. They are the central gravity holding a galaxy together.

It will pull you towards its center if you get too close.

Basically, the force of gravity as you get closer to the center (the singularity) gets so strong no form of matter could survive. The force is actually so great that light itself cannot escape the pull of gravity.

well...if you ever get sucked into a black hole, you are completely torn up.....its gross, and rather painful...so i hear....but no one has ever lived to tell the tale, so i don't know where you go...sorry...:(
