It seems to happen to quite a few people, even sex not what it use to be living together. The relations not like it was for both partners. The wedden rings seems to change the relationship and improve it at all. People with long relationship should consider careful about getting married it might break the partnership up within a few years, where nothing would have happened if you had stayed has you were at the time.

SEX is a wonderful thing to have and enjoy with your chosen partner, and although it is important in a relation,it isn`t the be and end all reason to be with anyone nor get married.

You have to ensure you are compatible in every possible way, even if it seems like it is un-important now that the other has a bad habit that may not bother you right now.
All things change in life from when you wake up the next day,to going to bed that night.
And will stay as it is if you don`t appreciate things and improve your life to the better.

Some people find the thought of marriage as too much commitment and become scared once they are married. It could also be that couples stop 'trying' once they are married, and start to take things for granted because they think that thier partner will have to put up with it because they are ' bound ' together

you are right but gerbilfan also makes a good point.

There are also (I'm sure) cases where the long-term-cohab couple had hit problems, and marriage seemed like the magic bullet to solve them. That of course is 99% guaranteed disaster. But I don't think you're talking about that per se.

Anyway, I agree, it does. I think it's fear of the future. When everything is temporary, it can go on for ever without us noticing. If it ever becomes permanent, we just have to end it NOW!!

thats not always the case it takes 2 to work on a relationship make sure that your both still on the same wave length as before you got married then it should all work out .marriage is just a ring and a piece of paper

You both get too comfortable and don't bother making the effort anymore. Also, there's a feeling of "well We're married now so there's not much else to work for in the relationship...no target", so again you don't feel you need to make that effort with each other.

I don't think it's the marriage per se, it's more that long term couples tend to get married in order to paper over the cracks in their relationship.

If some people put as much effort INTO the marriage as some people do MOANING about it,they would perhaps go a lot farther!!
