Check your subscription. I think its over.
Then you should uninstalled it and install another one.
avast works fine on me and i recomended it to you. It is free and safe. Its lite you dont even notice the program runnin on your computer. Just download from the link here;
http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html

Remember dont used McAfee,Norton,Panda, Avg, Antivir,NOD32,Kapersky.
I tried them once and it sucks!
1.Hard to removed.
2. Make your computer slowdown
3. System crash.
4. Have issues with other apllication.
5. False detection which lead to program stop responding.
5. Hard to download update, and some too slow for update.

First thing, I would reboot your computer. It sounds like your virus definitions are no longer being updated. This would most likely mean that your subscription has run out and you will need to pay McAfee to renew your subscription. Reboot and then see if your subscription has expired.

From experience, McAfee is a horrible anti-virus program. I would recommend to switch if your virus definitions have actually expired. Norton Anti-Virus and Zone Alarm are two recommended replacement applications.

McAffee is crap.

So is Norton.

They both try to scare you into upgrading and/or continuing to subscribe to their products. Cha-Ching! $$$

Uninstall McAffee, keep Windows updated, don't open email attachments, and you'll be just fine!
