Does anyone have any ideas of makeup I could do that tends towards the vampiric, female goth look? I'm a somewhat almost light black girl (somewhere between dark brown and lightish) and was wondering whether anyone has any ideas for makeup I could do... say to get a Queen of the Damned look and makeup brands to go along with it.

Just to mention. I have a medium sized nose (not flat) and really big lips so just to give people a better idea of what I look like!

Just another thing. The look is not for halloween. It's for everyday because I'm more into the gothic genre of fashion.

I don't want to do the hiphop thing just because I'm black.

The reason I'm going for the goth look is because I like it... not hiphop or emo or anything else. Plus, my parents are pretty liberal minded so it has nothing to do with rebelling.

Plus, I don't do it just for the fashion. I do it because it's what I feel I am.

LOVE the idea and the look you are going for! You should try some really dark lipcolors which have some red/blue in them. Nars makes some great darker colors, and the L'Oreal HIP line also has some great colors at a great price. Benefit has a great eyeliner called badgal which can make a very dramatic darkly smuged eye. Urban decay is another brand with very cool blue, purple, red, green eye shadow colors, as well as nail colors to do the Goth look, but make it your own!

Consider yourself luck, having a dark complexion will make it easy for you to wear the gothic style make up. I'd say go for some purple lipstick, and a sparkley black eyeliner along yout top lash line. If you have deep set eyes, you can do a heavy line, if you have smaller eyelids, go for a thinner line. I wouldn't reccomend any blush. Some contacts would look neat too. you might try a deep red or burgundy lipstick as well. Just ahve fun and experiement.

Blaaaaaaaack! Lots of black! If you have dark skin, it's a lot easier to pull off black make-up. Focus on your eyes- black eyeliner, smoky shadows, and lots of spiky mascara. Stay away from the pale powder and black lipstick, because it won't be enough of a contrast (and from what I've seen, goth is all about contrast). Just buy some cheap drugstore make-up and experiment until you find a look that you like. :)

Go for Akasha [Queen of the Damned], it is dark and sexy
Most of the black goth girls i've seen look very beautiful and stunning. They go for dark colours [not black], sultry make up, that is not too much, blue, purple and green. Their hair styles are clean and high lighted with dark red[the hair is usually off the face or half of the face

well for Aaliyah's look you want a lot of black eye liner and black eye shadow. Play up the eyes. Any brands will really work. She has a kinda peachy golden lip gloss. If you don't want to pay much, just go for wet' n wild. In some other vampire movies, they go for the red stained look, like the vampire just feed look.
What really makes the outfit in most vampire movies, like Queen of the Damned and Underworld, is the contact lenses. If you can get these along with the vampire teeeth, then you'll be good.....wait is this for halloween?

Like another anwserer said middle class white gals are goth. What happened to old-school beautiful goths? Now they're trashy poser goths. I'm upper-class so I do the prep thing (I love it) hip/hop would be better for you but do what YOU want to do!!!!! Be a beautiful goth with dark purples and some blacks! Hope you like your new style!

well hmm you could do queen of the dambned look or you could get like black lip liner with a dark redish lip stick and for eyes you could try eye liner on your eye lids that go down to the corners of your eyes like the egyptions use to do and pick out a black or gray eye shadow or white or even blue. i dunno. i know lots of people that r in to gothic and all they did was wear black and even red and white and they wore black make up. if you have like a hot topics or some store around thats gothic you can go thier and get a few ideas they should have mag. thier so good luck hope ya find the right look ya want

I'd say look like every other goth, lots of eyemakeup. You might want to lay off the black lipstick and pale powder, though. Also, I think spikey mohawks look pretty awesome on people with african hair.

I'd say for anyone, no matter what color their skin, clothes make up 75% of the goth look. After that, heavy, dark, eye make up should do the trick.

p.s. you should feel free to express yourself however you want. If this look is what you're comfortable in, then go for it.
