Narf

Narf is the name of a fictional creature from the 2006 film Lady in the Water. Also known as a water faerie or water nymph, it is a mermaid-like creature with many resemblences to a human. The supporting character, Story (Bryce Dallas Howard), is a narf.

Narfs originate from the Blue World, an underwater realm. They are rather shy, mysterious creatures who speak very little, but when they do speak, they can give valuable information. They are given missions, all taking place in the real world. Narfs can travel to the real world via drainage systems in swimming pools, but cannot use that entrance again. The only way for a narf to return to the Blue World is for the Great Eatlon, a large eagle, to pick it up and fly it over to that world.
