I think is more of a human nature to be afraid of the unknown, we are usually scared of the first day of school, first day of college, first day in the boarding school, first day of work, if you can notice I have mentioned the first days, what happens the second day: you are now familiar with the environment and the people in the class did'nt bite you so as the people at work and so as the people in the first class flight... Its normal...

Actually, this is genetic (or so those in the know are now saying). It's inborn in some to approach the new warily, and in others (known as the insane people -- to me) to embrace it.
Those of us who are wary like to wait and see what the new thing is like; we'll wait for you foolhardy folks to try it first, learn from what you do and what happens, ask ourselves what it would be like to try it, and then approach cautiously.
And I agree with the poster somewhere above this answer, that fear of embarrassment is often a big part of it, as well as just fear (of getting hurt, of not liking the experience but not being able to back out).
The world wouldn't work as well, anyway, with everyone pushing to be first; isn't it better that some people like to check things out first before diving in?

Its said that people fear the "Unknown". Thats why people do the strange things that they do a lot of the times.
Its unfortunate because as humans, we miss out on a lot of things in life because we fear the "Unknown".
Think about it, there was an event that came about in your life in the past that you just dreaded confronting. But after you finally faced the music, it seemed to change you in a way that normal experiences dont.
I believe thats what decides our successes and failures in life. When we give into fear...fear of the "Unknown", we loose out. We loose out on the benifits of that task, whether it be something material, or even the sense of achievement.
It really sucks when we dont face our fears. We loose out on so much.

It's a basic survival skill really. If a person is unfamiliar with something it's rare to pursue it unless it's necessary for that person's survival in some way emotionally or physically.

People don't embrace the unknown because they aren't sure what exactly they would be embracing.

I'm all in favor of embracing the unknown.
Dragon, I don't know you.
You should embrace me.
Or at least, drop me an email.
