Favorite: TEXAS (where I'd rather live), Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee, Alabama (outside of Birmingham,) North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Wyoming, Washington. Friendly people, great scenery, lots to do, each state has its own history and culture.

Okay: Virginia, Michigan, Indiana, Utah, Arkansas, Pennsylvania, Oregon, Kentucky (where I now live), Colorado (don't like the place but it's SO pretty.) The attractions, cities, people are all just mediocre (Ok, so Philly and Pittsburgh are great cities, and Colorado is gorgeous, but other than that...)

Least favorite: Ohio, New Jersey, California, Delaware, Florida, Nebraska, Nevada. Why would anybody live in these places? Really? (No offense to anybody who lives in any of these listed states, I'm sure there are a few good qualities to them.)

Oh, two more "least favorite" states: Illinois and West Virginia.

Favorites: Indiana (where I live), Kentucky, South Carolina, New York (mostly Niagara Falls and Cooperstown).

Okay: Missouri, Ohio (except Cincinnati, which is in the favorites because I am a die-hard Reds fan), West Virignia, Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Pennsylvania.

Least: Illinois (except Chicago, too much to do there), Michigan (This may change. I only visited the Southern part of the state).

Ok, here's my list:

Favorite: California
OK: Nevada, New Mexico
Least Favorite: Arizona, Ohio

I haven't been to that many states, so my list may be somewhat biased. I dislike Arizona for the summer heat. 120 degrees in the shade isn't my idea of a vacation spot. Ohio has nasty weather too...blizzard conditions in winter and humidity in summer, plus (at least in Cleveland) there was absolutely nothing to do. The so-called "mall" had about 4 stores and a recruiter's office. Some fun!

Yes, I live in California. I love it, because all I have to do is travel about 1-2 hours in any direction from home to find whatever I want.. (ie: the mountains, the ocean, countryside, etc) The whole earthquake stigma is just silly. We only have large ones about every 10 years or so, and I've never personally been injured by one. I'd rather live with the odds of an earthquake happening than live in tornado alley or a place with ice storms each winter.

Favorites:

1. California (diversity, huge fun-loving cities, lots of sunshine)
2. Florida (same as above)
3. Washington (the heart of the Pacific Northwest, nature loving and laid back)
4. Illinois (German heritage + Lincoln + great arthitecture... wunderbar)
5. Nevada (Viva Las Vegas, Viva! Viva! Viva!)
6. Vermont (a joy... thoroughly rural, yet also a highly civilized state)
7. Colorado (quite dramatic physically)
8. Hawaii (the most exotic state, and one of the most beautiful despite its isolation and small size)
9. Lousiana (Lousiana is still a cultural experience unlike any other, inhabited by unique characters, strange circumstances, and even stranger politicians)
10. New York (because no Neu Yawker can stomach having a top ten list without their presence)

I've lived in Florida, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Arizona and California. Of those, Florida is my favorite. I hate winter (I currently live in PA and am dreading winter coming....). I love the fact that there are so many large cities within a few hours of each other in Florida. There are many possibilities, lots to do, great beaches, lots of fun.
My favorite state that I've visited is Hawaii, absolutely gorgeous. Vermont's pretty cool too, (but I would only want to live there in the summer!!)

Favorite: Colorado and Washington. Outdoor beauty is awesome in these two states. I also love the farm country near Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Okay: Most of them.

Least favorite: Anywhere it is hot, anywhere you find lots of concrete and traffic. Cities like Dallas, Los Angeles, Phoenix are definitely on my list of least favorite cities in the South. But, there are other parts of each state that I enjoy.
