Hahaha...funny you should ask that question. Yes, that store is rediculously expensive! It's all about brand and image - which they know that vulnerable teens and adults will pay for. Anyhow, I was just in the store yesterday b/c I noticed that they had some t-shirts on sale. I knew that was my spot, so i pick up 3 logo t-shirts that were on sale for $15 (I only buy them when on sale b/c I am a tall girl and they tend to fit well on my long torso). The girl at the register rings them up and come to find out one of the shirts wasn't on sale and was like $30 dollars. I told her I thought the shirt was cute but didn't want that one anymore and just wanted the sale priced ones. She said sure, and then she whispered to me "yeah, that is really expensive for just a t-shirt." Even the girl that worked there agreed. So that is saying something!

Like someone said above, the sole business of A&F and, in fact, of their whole conglomerate, is to sell a brand and a certain image, not quality clothing. I won't say that their stuff is crappy, because I have found some clothes there that are pretty well made, but they do charge one hell of a lot more than what it's actually worth. However, it's hard to find a company in the fashion business that doesn't apply such practices, but I guess that's the consequence of living in a world that places that much attention on appearance.

I dont think that they are going to lower the prices because if they did then they will have the wrong people wearing their clothes. Lets face it the store only markets to a certain type of people. I would try to find an outlet or buy a few basic pieces and mix and match.

Okay, I know I'm dating myself, but does anyone else remember when this was a store for old fogies? It used to be a store filled with plaid golfing pants and stuffy cordoroy blazers for East Coasters in their 40's and 50 looking to go to the Hamptons for the weekend....When I was in high school and college, it was a store I walked by quickly 'cause their close were so damn ugly. Now I think their clothes are cute, but their prices make me scoot right on by....

As long as their prices stay sky high.. they will stay a name brand. If they lower their prices for more people to wear then they will lose their status. Same for Diamonds. If the clearest fine cut diamonds were cheap then they would lose their status and not seem any different than other types of jewelry

i do not believe that at all! that's my favorite store to shop at, but the reason why they do not lower their prices is because they want people in upper-middle class wearing them. it wouldnt make them look good if lower class people wore them, so they keep their prices high. i think that the quality is worth the amount of money you pay, and abercrombie & fitch is also an "accepted" brand, so people want to buy it more.

i think they are really cheap actually. where i live, if you wear abercrombie it means because you cant afford the higher quality brands. sucks, but im just being real.

i think hollister is supposed to be like abecrombie, only cheaper, i think but i dont know, you should check them out.

not only are they way too expensive they also got in alot of trouble not to long ago for being accused of hiring only young, white, attractive men and woman to work in their stores to make their clothes more "appealing". **** that store.
