I'm a parent and our kids range in age from 24 to 42. They are all fortunate enough to have spouses that provide the second income necessary to be independent. However, that isn't to say that they aren't one paycheck away from "coming home" if nec. I would never call them losers or lazy. Given today's economy, there is no way to put a cap on the age of independence. Parents know who their freeloaders are and that label is not bound by age.

It depends on the situation. For instance, some adult children have their parents move in with THEM because the parent is aging or does not have very much retirement income. Those people are definitely not losers, in my book. There are also people who have disabilities which make it difficult to live on their own. I really can't put a number on it, because someone might have just graduated from college and moved home while he/she is looking for a job in his/her field, which I wouldn't consider being a loser either. I guess ultimately I don't really look down on people who live with their parents if I can see some logic to it, the person is employed, pays their own way, etc.

I think it depends on the situation and the person - but if you are 30-35 and still living at home with no valid reason besides the fact that you don't have a job, are lazy, and/or can't afford your own place then that could be considered being a loser.

I think anyone above the age of 25 is pushing it for living with their parents.

I don't think it is about age. I think it about the situation that a family is in and the life of the person with their parents.

You definetly want to be out by 21. You can drink then. Not cool stepping out into the world....having a few drinks....and then trying to stumble back to your parents house. Not cool.

Plus, what if you hook up with a hot chick while your out.....what are you gonna tell her?

"Hey, dont make up too much noise when we get in the house.....Mom's dont play that......"
