i had a flying squirrel actually never heard of a flying fox.... but anyway the flying squirrel was very nice but hard to handle.... they are not neccesarily domesticated.... people like to think they are because they are so cute and want one for a pet.... flying squirrels are very jumpy and energetic... you will need a lot of energy and time for the little guy if u get one... but they are alot of fun to watch though

i just googled flying foxes and they are actually rare so i dont think u should get one as a pet... have u considered a chinchilla.? they are fun

Yes. I know flying squirrels have been domesticated over the years. I have no idea about flying foxes but they probably can. They can probably be found on the sources weblinks below. I go there all the time for information about pets like that. It is in my favorites on the internet. Also, fennec foxes can be kept as pets which has no odor unlike other foxes and they are tiny like cats but very friendly and so much cuter! They are found on that website too. I hope this information helps. Also, flying foxes are actually bats and I don't think bats should be domesticated but it does happen, so get either one but Samantha is right, they are rare and I recommend a flying squirrel.

It is legal to own a flying squirrel. Depending on where you live may depend on if you need registration though.
You may want to find a vet willing/able to give it rabies shots etc. before purchasing a flying squirrel. Flying squirrels have not been domesticated, but they are herbivores or omnivores so they could possibly be a good pet. A similar situation would be a chinchilla, not technically domesticated, but still an amusing pet.

Word of warning, dont buy it on a whim, think through lifespan, cost of food, shelter, food, vet care.
Other than that, good luck!
