Tung:-))

Yes I visited Albania once... a few years ago..
It is a very beautiful country..especially the countryside is a amazing and very beautiful to look at..

I crossed the border on a overnight bus at Kosovo...And traveled to Tirane.. I think I liked most about Tirana is the main square and boulevard, and the families promenading in the evening.. I think Albania has the best Italian food outside Italy!...
And Albanian cakes are the best...especially the Baklava :)))
I also spent some days in Durres and traveled across the width of the country to Macedonia...

But I will give you an honest answer, what I remember most are the people.. And the very sad recent history Albania has had..
I met a man who told me how he had left the country (on his own)on a raft (after the pyramid scandal) when people could 1st leave, to go Italy. He was only fifteen at the time. But Albania was so poor he had no options. And that was not an unusual story. I can't imagine leaving my parents at 15 :-(

I do hope the economy is getting better, and now the whole is more stable it should help.

I would like to visit again soon..because whilst I have traveled across the country..I still have a lot to see.
I know that Albania is very famous for it's Roman ruins..which are some of the most unspoilt in thew world..I have a friend who works in Gjirokastra, I would like to visit there...someday..

BTW I really like the books by Ismael Kadare. And I think your national hero Skandenberg was cool. If that helps.

I have been to Albania, but that was back in 1995. The country was just trying to come out of Communism. The people are very friendly and open.
