Many locals in Washinton DC have been pining for statehood for some time- Im not qute sure why it isnt a state-
Any people here from Washington DC who could shed light on why Washington DC should- or shouldnt be granted statehood?

It was made separate for a reason. so the US government would not be subject to any state or state laws

No. Should we make New York City it's own state? D.C. is basically a city. Not enough land mass to be a state IMO.

Look at a map and you'll see it is basically just a city.
