No, of course not. Actions that are done to help others even in the face of our own possible demise and are not being recorded or even seen by anyone else are being performed around the world even as I write this!

Absolutely!!! Pretty much one or the other. As a speceies we need others of our kind and things like wanting to be entertained is what makes us human and separates us from being just another animal. But that desire to be entertained is so ingrained in our code that we do not even realize how much we have come to depend on it, it is involved in every aspect of present day life. We even like pretty food ( combining survival and entertainment) and have created jobs just to keep us entertained. Why do you think you are on this computer right now... looking for entertainment! Even murder and rape can be liked back to survival insticts and in the case of serial murders and rape the perpetrator combines his entertainment with the instinct to kill or rape. What do you do on any given day that is not either liked to survival or entertainment take a look around your home and find something that does not qualify as one or the other. Some things may be stepping out on limb but the motivation is there for it if you look deep enough. The desire to help people is even an instinct for survival, how would we survive without others of our kind. Ok so as with everything else we do these days it has been a little distorted and we sometimes even help people to keep us entertained.

I wouldn't call it entertainment but it's close enough.
Actually most of the times we do this because this is the only way we know. Sometimes it is easy, for example we do one thing because we expect or want to see the reaction of other people.
And survival doesn't necessarily mean our survival, it could mean the survival of others which we hold dear.

Some people do things out of the goodness of their hearts. Some people get a kick out of doing things for others, it gives them a feeling that they are appreciated, needed, and worthwhile. This of course is with the premise that they do things first without wanting anything in return. Also if you do something good for someone you shouldn't tell everyone about it, because your reward comes from God. You never know, one day you might need help yourself, and someone who you never did something for will do something for you.

I therefore commend you to keep doing good not for selfish motivation or gain, but rather out of the goodness of your heart. See how this makes you feel, and you will find that it's a good feeling.

In a certain way, yes. But I like to think humans are a bit more complex than that..

Yes because, even those who help others are doing it ONLY because they want to be good and then be rewarded with heaven! I have never seen someone do something good unselfishly.
