Dear Moon,
Please don't waste your time trying to understand these hateful people. They are as evil-minded as they are small-minded and all appeals to reason and common decency are lost on them. Please don't allow them to upset you so much. They are simply not worth it. And please don't ask anymore of these questions. You only upset yourself needlessly and fuel their embarrassing hatred and malice.
Some people are so miserable with their own abject lives, personal failings and the poor decisions they make that they feel compelled to envy, attack and otherwise despise others. The fact that this brand of subhuman scum chooses not to live and let live (or as you phrased it, let others live in peace) does not mean WE can't live in perfect peace and harmony. Please don't empower these villains by giving them the ability to affect your peace of mind, let alone your life. They are nothing. With every venomous attack, disingenuous Q&A, infantile (and impotent) "thumbs down" rating, stacked vote and disgraceful commentary they make in this venue (or any other), they simply prove the point: They are NOTHING.
These people attack (and lie and bully and threaten) because their lives are so hollow and empty that they have (literally) nothing better to do. Their designated "leader," a proven coward who "leads" from the rear, practically LIVES on this site. He cries up and down about "puppets" and "pulled strings" while turning around and crying wolf to bring in his pathetic "cavalry charge" to prop him up because his courage and principle are not merely lacking, they are nonexistent. One of his minions, a truly vile person so driven by hatred and spite that she once caricatured erstwhile friends as "zoo animals," actually came slithering back after a three-month absence because she heard his pitiful cries for help. Another recently wrote a lengthy and illiterate diatribe so full of venom that the only impression it left was how on earth a human being can endure with so much poison pumping through her veins. This was in response to a legitimate question posted by yours truly that named no names yet was almost instantly contaminated by this mob of terrorist scum. Yes indeed, puppets and pulled strings are the very images that came immediately to my mind, as well. The hypocrisy is nauseating. The cowardice is staggering. The pettiness is mind-boggling. The malice is embarrassing. Again, they are NOTHING.
As for the issue of ongoing attacks that have endured for months and gone unpunished, well, we all know who that is and why the unethical yazis (that's your "YA team" at work, folks -- be proud!) have not lifted a finger against their favourite pet. Good grief, I feel sure they're in cahoots with the little rodent. Anyway, you've evidently asked about this specific matter in a follow-up question, as well, so I'll go ahead and answer that separately.
The point is this, my dear Moon: These people do NOT matter. This abysmally administered website does NOT matter. YOU matter, my friend. Your family (especially your dear Mum) matters. Your life, your health, your happiness matters. So please, I implore you, don't waste another ounce of energy or another moment's effort on these hateful and hate-filled people. They just aren't worth the bother. As my friend Kevin stated so succinctly before the yazis removed his post, yet left intact the deranged diatribe of a disturbed mind: They ain't nobody!
Enjoy your weekend, my friend, and smile! :)
Your friend for life,
Mac

There are many reasons. The most frequent cases refer to the satisfaction people have when other share their opinions and ideas. It's stupid, but somehow most people feel more secure when everyone around follows a certain pattern. The second frequent reason is that those people are very unsatisfied with what they are and are unconsciously trying to blame their frustrations on others.

Instead of some people trying to help they pass judgement and are miserable with their own lives. So why not make someone else's day horrible. It's very, very sad. Tell your friend to ignore the negativity. She has a good friend for sticking up for her.

Because some are bullies, they want that control or power over others. That seems to be the only way that they can feel good about themselves!

Sadly, there is not a simple answer to that. And even worse, there is no way that you can change everybody's evil ways unless they are WILLING to change.

I think you would like Deepak Chopra's book, Peace is the Way.
I was never big on reading any of his books until I read this one...
