I have to write two sentences..one with the word its, and one with the word it's. I was able to write one with it's, but I can't think of a sentence using the word its. Can you think of one?

'Its' is used to declare possession. 'It's' is used in place of 'it is'. An easy way to be sure you're using the correct one is to replace the word with 'it is'.

"The baby threw its toy across the room." That sentence wouldn't sound right as "The baby threw it is toy across the room." However, in "It's going to be a beautiful day.", you can replace the word and it will still be correct; "It is going to be a beautiful day."

Hope I helped a bit. :)

The key here is that ITS = the one belonging to it, and IT'S = it is.
Another example would be: 'The dog chewed on its bone'.
