there are several wires that run from your fuse box to the lights. these wires are bare and are touching each other which is what makes your fuse blow.
look at the tail light assembly first
seperate all wires from each other and look for cuts in the wires which shows the metal of the wires....
follow as far as you can until you find your problem.

Remove the brake lamp bulbs and try again. If it blows, there is a grounded short somewhere in the wiring or possibly the brake lamp switch itself. Seek and destroy time -- get a handfull of fuses and keep removing systems and wires until it stops, then pinpoint the problem.

if its got a trailer hitch on it,,and its wired for one,,one of the wires may be touching the metal some where,,i own a repair shop,and this is a common thing sometimes if you have a hitch harness on it,,check and make sure none of the wires are touching together,if they are,,re -tape them up,,and then try it,you,ll find the problem in the back probably,,this is where most shorts and bad connections happen,,good luck with it,,i hope this help,s.

If you have a trailer wire plug, start there for shorts.
