There's a Days Inn (or one of those types, Comfort Inn or something) on 22nd street. I can't remember the cross street. There's also a nice Sheraton in University City, I believe on Campbell, that is nice. There is also a Best Western in Old City. You'll have to do some googling, but all of these are in safe areas. If you are looking for more of a night scene, the Best Western is the way to go. To be honest, there aren't too many bad areas left in Philly. The really bad neighborhoods don't even have hotels...or much of anything period. Stick to the Center City area, and you'll be fine.

i have stayed on the days lodge....there are 6 places in Niagara Falls so that you've a great determination to settle on from the position you want to stay. We stayed for decrease than $fifty seven in line with nighttime/ 2 people. that's a common inn. i found it sparkling and the beds tender. i'm for sure assuming you're speaking about the Canadian part...then I reread your question and also you reported you want "threat-free". So possibly i'm questioning you're with regard to the yank part. :-)))
