They are basically nut cases looking for extreme power. Like many groups, if you don't agree with them, you are a biget, racist, etc. It's their way or the highway.

To the above poster who married an Arab. Get off your own high horse. He said "extremists" not "average muslims". You are just as ignorant to start making comments about KKK and crap like that.
There are extremists and they do hate the west, but I will say it is not due to diversity. Some do think the west is a "cess pool" but not all. There are several reasons that extremists dislike western countries, and its not the same for all of them. Many (especially Arabs) take issue over the whole Israel/Palestine issue. Others such as Osama and his Al-Qaeda "organization" have other issues such as US military presence in muslim countries.

No, as I understand it, these extremists don't like the West (US in particular) because of the extreme wealth and the way the US government thinks it can do whatever it wants, no matter who it hurts as long as the US benefits from it. I know they're really pissed off over our continued support for Israel too. I might be wrong but I don't think diversity is even an issue.

Most followers of this so called religion are uneducated , ignorant people that can be lead or taught most anything.
However, the terrorist you mention are very smart and worldly. There dislike of the west comes from months or years of brainwashing by the very smart cult type leaders and their idiotic view of a religion
