I would say that, during that time period, the Internet has most profoundly changed the world. It has changed the way we communicate, and put a worldwide base of knowledge and information at our fingertips. As a result, I'd say we're living in the Information Age.

The Berlin Wall coming down, December 1989. If this had not happened, there would still be a big Russian threat, and more military development by them and by the USA in response. After it happened, the Russians realised they could not keep all these Eastern European and Asian countries under their control any more.
