You can join a group therapy shy- lady- symptoms cure.

Practice in busses, supermarket parking lots, perform as best as you can. OFTEN
You can even start being those catatonic doll figures. Hide in mask and be still for a while. Leave hat for money

THEN learn some voice routine a favorite story = write one for and by yourself and recite. You may find yourself to be a writer!

THEN go to some acting school or help out in local theater groups.... they always need unpaid -volunteer people to work for them. EVEN USHER...

Perhaps, you might like another aspect of theater. Movies, carnival circus... demonstrator for sales services.... all get Over shyness or no one buys! Great training.

Save SCHOOL money, borrow movie camera and do the scenes that you think you might be best suited to do. romance, death, baby born fear crying etc pefect the movies. get comments from genuinely interested peple. Decide only after studying yourself on film-cd etc.

Good luck

the street theater people are nice groups easy to join... travel etc. learn makeup work with others etc. ENTERTAINMENT IS YOUR THING. sleep lots
do not drink or pot your brain.

Part of acting is the ability to become other characters. One way many introverted and shy actors lose their shyness is by putting on a character and becoming someone else. Bobby DeNiro is really a very shy person but hides inside the characters he portrays.

Take a class or two, learn to breathe very deeply (a good way to overcome shyness about anything) and most of all believe in yourself - what you have to share as an actress is something very unique to you. If you are in NYC great audition classes are taught at a company called Nicu's Spoon. You can look them up on the web.

I've been acting for over 50 years and I can you there's no secret external answer. It's just a matter of your own focus and commitment to your goals. Practice, rehearse, practice, rehearse, in other words, work at it. Some idiots think alcohol will help them overcome (I could mention other drugs) the nerves. For one thing if I'm in a show and an actor I must work with shows up loaded, I'll get their *** kicked off the stage. It's especially true in tight ensemble situations where there must be a give and take.

one thing that's helpful to understand is that pretty much Everyone gets nervous, some of the best actors in the world get sick all the time before performances. performances are sometimes better because of the nerves. it heightens the adrenalin, and your focus. have you taken any courses? they have great warmup excercises you can do to help you loosen up beforehand.

Try investing in a hypnotherapy tape such as overcoming fears or public speaking and listen to it at bedtime every night.

Just imagine that you're alone in the room/hall/theater whatever and deliver your best performance. This has delivered for me, it might do the same for you.By the way, I was afraid of public speaking, never indulged in acting.

Just remember...when you're acting, no one is judging you as a person. They are not watching you, they are watching the character you are playing.
