I would think so considering you're renting it out to her for half the price.

If you could afford to let her live there for free without it causing a tremendous burden, I would do so. I mean, think of all the years she paid to take care of you. (Yes, I know she made the choice to have children, but that was at least 18 years of housing, food, medical expenses, clothes, toys, education, etc.) If you absolutely have to get some money from renting it out, and it's a choice between her paying $1000 or you can't do it all, definitely then give her the "deal" of charging her less rent than you could get.

If it's a nice house, sure. You aren't burdening her if she is recieving enough income to pay the rent and pay her bills. It's only fair. You have to make the mortgage payments on the house and pay the taxes. That is unless you are a millionaire and don't need the money. Then it would be respectful to let her have the house for free. After all, she is your mother.

Sure its fair. She is going to have to pay rent somewhere. I think $1000 a month is a good deal for a whole house. Plus, if you mom doesn't like it, then tell her to find somewhere cheaper to rent, and rent the house out for $2,000 a month to someone else. Good luck.

No under no cicumstances should you charge your mother. Shame on you for even thinking about it.
Find out if any South African country music lovers are close to you and ask them if they have the song No Charge by Lance james. If you can get hold of this song listen to the words and I can assure you that you will cry of shame just thinking of wanting to charge your mom.

I dunno about most ppl, but if i could i would gladly buy my mom a house and if not, let her live there for free, but if u cant because of financial problems than its another story. u can explain this and charge her 1000 and its fine.
I have no idea why ppl think that their parents had to give them everything necessarie just because they had you . We all should be grateful for what they sacrificed and for the care we received. Why do we live in such a selfish world jezz..

All depends what else she has to pay. Utilities are out of sight, Also it also depends what her pre existing expenses are. I would suggest that you both sit down and work out her budget, Because if you don't and things go down the tube, it is much harder to repair a family in trouble than have a renter who you bearly know, if that one doesn't work out you evict them, it isn't pleasant when you may have to do the same to mom

When my mom lived in the same house as one of my brothers, he did. BUT I would, if possible, drop the rent to something more affordable for her.

It all depends on three things, 1st how she had raised you, treated you and spent on you. 2nd what is your position economical and emotional. 3rd what is her position after giving you 1000 $, will see get along with 1500?? if answer is yes.... then do it otherwise... dont. To me, all mothers should be rented FREE OF ANY COST.... Chears !!
