First question, does this modem have wireless built into it? If it does, you just need a wireless adapter for your PC. Once you have the wireless adapter put in, and the modem's wireless activated, then you should be able to connect. If the modem does wireless, you don't need the router, but do need the adapter.

If the 2wire modem does not have wireless built into it, you need both a wireless router and a wireless adapter. Take the cable that would run from the modem to the PC out of the PC and plug it into the WAN or Internet port on the wireless router. Install the wireless adapter into the PC, set up the router for wireless, and try connecting.

In either solution, you need to set up some sort of security to protect your wireless from being hijacked.

plug your modem into the wireless router and your wireless router into the computer. This one will be hard wired to your NIC. And you should set up your connection with your ISP. Now any other computers in the area will need a wireless card to pass data through the wireless router. They will scan for available wireless networks when you build a connection

As far as I know, you will need a wireless adapter. But to be sure, I would post this question under the computer category. Better yet, Go to Pal Talk (you may need to subscribe if you haven't) and pose your question in one of the networking rooms. There are experts there that will be more than happy to walk you through it start to finish. I hope I helped.
