Hi I am a registered tattooist in the uk. The law states you must be 18 years old to have a tattoo.....this is the same law throughout the whole of the uk. There is no such thing as parental consent for tattoos.....and any tattoo studio's that offer parental consent are breaking the law and could face imprisonment. There will always be dodgy back street tattooist, who will tattoo minors, but believe me, its not worth the risk. Wait until you are 18 and its legal....then find a good tattooist who is health registered and has the certificates to prove it! Always check out their reputation 1st and always ask to look at photo's of their work. Recommendation by a friend is usually the best way to find a decent tattooist in your area.
Remember a tattoo is for life....so make sure you get it right 1st time. Good luck and I hope this has helped.

I'm not sure about England but i know where I live you have to be 18 or have a parent with you. Just remember that it will be with you forever. Think of yourself as an 80 yr old and see if you would still want it on your body then. If you are a female I would suggest staying away from areas that will sag later in life. I would try to come up with something original not something off of their wall because you don't want to be walking around with something everyone else has.

Law is 18 and most make you sign a consent book saying that you are 18. They can have their licence taken off if they do someone under 18. I had my first done at 16 but i looked old enough but if you have tattoos you have to learn to love them for life and not because its some Phrase that your going through.

No, 18 is the law.
Parental consent will not come into it.
It is considered Child Abuse for anyone under the age of 18 and your tattooist can be prosecuted.
Please don't think about getting one until you're deadly certain.. Think about it.. Take time to consider a design you'll cherish forever. It is permanent remember. Oh, and only get one over the age of 18, of course.
And I'm sorry, but what parent in their right mind would allow someone to permanently scar their child? That is sick.

The best advice is to wait until you are 21. The reason for this, is because by then you will have a much clearer idea as to whether you actually want a tattoo or not. Many teens get tattoos just to keep up with their pier group. However, if you really do want a tattoo, go to your nearest parlour and ask their advice. Don't blame me if it hurts.
