Well it depends upon the county, it's particular problems, and what exactly the President in question can do.
If for example I'm the President of the United States the first thing I do under most circumstances is make a long speech.
However a few priorities:
Do something to deal with the twin deficits.
Let's ensure that everyone has health insurance.
Try to somehow sort out Iraq and actually repair our relations with the rest of the world.
Invest more in nanotechnology, genetic engineering and other medical technologies.
Work towards free higher education, especially for people majoring in the sciences and actually help pay off student loans for everyone else.

there are few countries with a written constitution. if i was made president of a country without one i would immediately write it.

to suspend all the boss'es of all the offices for one month !....
next step...give 3 days off a week in schools and colleges and offices...and the working hrz will be just 4 hrz for 4 days....
next:start new punishments....if a boss gives lots of work to the staff....hang them !....
hehe...i sound completely fked up where my work is related...rite ?...oh i hate my boss and my work !....lol
