If you weren't nervous, it would mean that you no longer cared, and at that point it's time to go do something else. However, since you do get nervous, it shows that you still care enough to want to give the best possible performance that you can. How do you give the best possible performance? Practice. Then, practice. And when you've done that, practice more. Then go to rehearsals...oops, that's another way to say, "Practice!"

When you've got your act locked down tight, nothing can throw you off of your game. While things outside of your control can and will happen, the well-prepared performer is able to roll with it and still deliver a high-caliber performance.

By having fun with the music. Feel like you are telling a story or trying to make the audience feel the emotion in the music. Once you start singing and having a good time you will forget all about being nervous and concentrate on the music. :)

First, be confident about your ability. I'm sure you're great, even if I don't know you. Then take a huge breath right before you get on and release it. Imagining people in their underpants could help, but its never worked for me when I perform. I try to get involved with the music as much as possible and not try to see the people. Practicing as much as you want before the actual day helps a lot too ^.^

Think about it this way...since I am a musician and I won my first talent contest at the age of five singing a song and playing my Ukelele.
I was born an exhibitionist and that makes me a smarty in front of people and I do lots of things and make people laugh because I like it and it makes me feel good.
So what makes you feel good when you do something for someone..even if your singing to them?

Have you ever been in a school chorus concert when you were in grade school? And all the other kids were nervous around you and it didnt make you feel as nervous?

Pretend there are other people around you.

Square breathing: Take a breath to the count of ten, hold for a count of ten, release for a count of ten, hold for a count of ten. Doesn't hurt to pack the audience with lots of people who luv u and who will cheer and applaud even if you screw up.

Take a small shot and try to imagine everyone as family and friends. P.S. Don't make this a habit ok! :-)
