We have a small holding & are looking to diversify, there are thousands of people who fish & need bait, therefore my thought was there must be a call for maggots for bait, but I am having problems finding out anything about setting up, regulations etc, anyone who has info or can suggest where I could find out info I'd be very grateful.I know that if you rear them on rotting flesh you enter into a minefield of DEFFRA regulations, but I believe they can also be reared on a milk & bran mix ???I know its possibly what would be deemed an anti social business, but we live in the middle of no-where so it wouldn't be a prob for anyone else !

find some flys or maggots, rear them on bologna, or other types of meat. make sure you do not get rid of the flys that come from the maggots as they will get you more maggots and when they die the will be eaten by maggots also. try to find a place that has maggots already as you don't wan diseased maggots or it is quite likely that you will become ill. good luck. this should work, i have never tried it but i know a little about maggot so yea. try differentiating the type of meat and replace the meat regularly so it does not rot from anything but maggots. keep it outside or in an extremely ventilated area.
