Which version of the film? I've read the book and also seen the A&E version of the film and the new one. I love them both, but by far i think that the book is a little better. the A&E version is closest to the book, but it's about 6 hours long and i think that the acting on all counts except for Mr. Collans was better in the new one.
God Bless!!

"Romance seems so urgent and delightful in Austen because marriage is a business, and her characters cannot help treating it as a pleasure. Pride and Prejudice is the best of her novels because its romance involves two people who were born to be in love, and care not about business, pleasure, or each other. It is frustrating enough when one person refuses to fall in love, but when both refuse, we cannot rest until they kiss."

Pride and Prejudice belongs to the romantic-comedy genre...

Depends on which version of the film we are talking about. The BBC version was pretty much on target, if not on target. The newest one was no where's near as on target to the book. As for the oldest one, I've not seen it but I've heard it is the most accurate.
As for how good? I enjoyed the BBC the most.

The A&E series with Colin Firth and Saffy from AbFab was great!
It was exactly like the book, same mood and dialog and done really well. You could watch that and not bother with the book.

The current one with Kirea Knightly was pretty lame.
