Stress will cause her to keep the babies a little longer. Putting her in a breeder box will only increase the stress. Get a tank divider and some plants/java moss for the fry to hide in and eat. Put your lights on a timer and increase the temperature of your tank to 77F.

Platties are livebears and she will have the babies when she is ready. If you want to save the babies from being eaten by the mother or other fish you can buy a hatchery the attaches to the inside of the tank. Buy the one that has a "V" shape insert that has a slot at the bottom that allows the babies to fall Thur to the bottom of the hatchery were the mother can not reach them. After the babies the mother can be netted and returned to the main tank and the "v" insert removed to give the babies more room> I have seen hatcheries up to 2 gallon size.

Platty? Do you mean platypus? I thought they were the only mammal to lay eggs.

she'll have them when she's ready. If you want to keep any of the babies, I hope they have lots of hiding places.
