It is usually recommended that you run your security and clean up programs at least once a week! Don't forget to check for updates first!

Weekly at a minimum!
If you use your computer a lot then defrag, and clean up utilities are paramount to a fine tuned PC.
The same with antivirus and spyware programs.
Simpy think of it as required weekly maintenance and take the time to do it.

once a month is not really ideal but it would hold through... that way you don't feel like being obliged to do it all the time, especially in the middle of a chat conversation!
but do it RIGHT AFTER you uninstall a critical program to clean up remaining DLLs or system junk.

that is used to help windows run better may be 2- 3 weeks or once in a month coz it is a time taking process

At least once a month. The more you use your compter the often you use the software. And get latest updates.
