I know you're only asking for just 1 song but I've gone through a lot of heartaches and these are some of the songs that were popular during my lowest moments:
Love Hurts by Nazareth,
Love Can Make You Cry by Urgent,
Think Of Laura by Christopher Cross,
Talking To Myself by Terracota,
Human by Human League
Weekend In New England by Barry Manilow
How Am I Supposed To Live Without You by Michael Bolton
I'm Never Gonna Say Goodbye by Billy Preston
Best I've Ever Had (Grey Sky Morning) by Vertical Horizon
Wherever You Will Go by The Calling
Superman (It's Not Easy) by Five For Fighting
HERE WITHOUT YOU by 3 Doors Down

"Angel Down" by Fairchiild (a St. Louis area band). It's a deeply personal song about singer/songwriter Connie Fairchild's son Sam, who was born severely disabled and died at the age of four. It brings tears to my eyes, but it's also uplifting because she believes they'll be reunited someday in Heaven (a little like Eric Clapton's "Tears in Heaven", but even more moving, and it came out a few years earlier).

Rapture by Hurt.
I never really knew what it was about, then I read the lyrics and it's about a couple who has a kid to early in life and the girlfriend smothers the baby. Weak, dude, totally weak.
