SOS actually doesn't mean anything, they wanted an easy code, so they piked ..._ _ _ ..., and in morose code that stands for SOS.... but they didn't meant to give any meaning, but most people say is save our ship or save or souls..... but none of it is true.... it is just a coincidence.... it cud have been oso, or anything, they just wanted an easy code that people could remember :)

It is old morse code. When ships were out at sea, they would send "..._ _ _..." (three short beeps, three long beeps, and three short beeps again on the machine) out as a distress call to other nearby ships to let them know they are in trouble, so the other ship would come and help them. Translated today, it basically means "help." Originally, it literally meant "save our ship." This phrase would take too long to type out in morse code, however, so it was shortened to "SOS."

SOS in not an acronym and it doesn't represent anything at all.
Some people say it means Save Our Ship and so think it means Save Our Souls
