I also have a lifelong friend who has been fiddling the social for over twenty years!!!
Even though I think it's wrong, and it annoys me, at the end of the day he is my friend, and so I could never bring myself to grass on him.
If this bloke was not a friend I would not be so loyal, then like 'kpbunches' said reporting is anonymous, report the bastard!!!

Because you know he is "fiidling" the state, it wouldn't make sense to do nothing about it. ok so he's your BEST MATE..has he a family? WHEN he get's found out, he WILL have to pay back every penny he has overclaimed for. This will affect not only him but also those near and dear to him...and that means YOU as well. Your friendship may suffer, his close family will suffer and even though he appears not to give a stuff he should be made aware of the consequences. OK so you might not be a grass, but someone out there wont be so lenient, after all our taxes pay for people on the state and no-one wants to bust their balls at work to pay taxes for scroungers to cream off the state. Tell your mate you are appalled by his attitude and his couldn't care less attitude towards his family and friends. Tell him HE WILL GET FOUND OUT and he should be taking steps to get a job or reassess his claim. As he's probably gutless to admit to the social hes fraudulent he can at least back out of lies hes told to get the income he is now on.
Other than that it depends just how much a mate you are to him. He doesnt sound like he deserves to have anyone too close to him.

Ring the National Benefit Fraud Hotline on 0800 854 440, but they'll need serious info to investigate the matter.

They'll need his full name & address and exact details of what he's doing. So if he's working & claiming they'll need to know where he works, what time he leaves in the morning, his car registration etc.

Its not cost effective to investigate fraud allegations on a case by case basis anymore. It's all done via electronic 'data matching' (benefit payment records matched against tax records etc). To get the DWP/council off it's backside to investigate a single case is really tough. Your best bet is giving them such a huge amount of data it's ridiculously easy for them to check. Otherwise he'll just be sent a letter saying 'Please confirm your benefit claim details are correct', to which he'll say 'yes' and that's the end of that.

You've got more chance of getting the Council to investigate Housing Benefit fraud than getting the DWP to investigate any other type of benefit fraud.

Shop him & don't worry about it. If he was discreet or had really fallen on hard times then I'd think twice but if he doesn't give a stuff why should you - call the Benefits Agency Fraud Line - you don't have to leave your name. He'll never know it was you because he's probably bragged to loads of people that's he's on the fiddle.

Will you get a tax refund if you report him?Don't you know that the Royal Family sponges millions off the tax-payer every year,& that rich farmers get millions more for Not growing anything on their land? That companies get millions in start-up grants, tax breaks & depreciation grants?Isn't it a great system when you have working class people informing on each other, for the sake of a few lousy quid, while the rich are gorging themselves at the trough? You wouldn't be jealous,by any chance, would you?

Great! another tosser stealing my f*cking money. Report the thieving sh*t. Do you know one of the reasons why we pay so much f*cking tax is because of your c*nting w*nker mate and his dodgy claims!!!!

WHAT!!! I cannot belive whats written above. If people played by the f*cking rules there wouldnt be no f*cking homeless because there would be more cash in the system to help those who really needed the help.
God give me strength. These fraudsters are screwing the needy more than anyone else

it is one of those things that will really get under your skin. you feel in yourself that it is wrong for you to tell someone, but it is wrong what he is doing. it will eat away at you at work knowing he earns more than you because he is probably getting free rent and money to live off each fortnight. all this will do is cause you stress at work. you have 2 choices tell your employer or report him to social sercuity before you could loose your job by worring too much about him/her than what you are supposed to be doing.
