The U.S. was first inhabited by Native Americans that traveled across the Bering Strait that connects Asia to Alaska, but no longer exists. The first "Americans" were from Europe escaping religious constraints as a result of the English and Lutheran Reformation. These people are often called Pilgrims, and some Huguenots, and first settled in Virginia (named for Queen Elizabeth I was was believed to be the Virgin Queen). These settlers were devoutly religious (Protestant). Eventually, they grew tired of being tied to England and were particularly angered when King George of England began to tax the "Americans" without giving them any say in English politics, thus the phrase "no taxation without representation." This started the Revolutionary War, and even though the odds were INCREDIBLY in favor of the English, with the help of the French, America won. Of course there is the Civil War, which was a battle between the north (Union) and the south (confederacy) about the ownership of slaves. The north won. etc..

okay facts, im learning it now, their is the 13 colonies, georgia, connecticut, massachuetts, new york, new jersey, rhode island, new jersey, maryland, north and south carolina, virginia, new hamshire, delaware, and pensyvaina 9i kno i spelled sum wrong) england taxed them cause he thought they were having too much freedom, then they fought back, won the relvolutionary war, try searching us history, or after the relvoutary war
