I'm guessing that it's some kind of childish way to show disrespect. I say that it's completely inappropriate and done by ignorant and unpatriotic "people." Regardless of politics, how does anyone justify such anti-American thinking and behavior?

Give them enough rope and the haters will hang themselves. I'm noticing a strong correlation between low intelligence and lack of respect. Also, to the 2 digit IQ people that responded; having the right to say something doesn't make what you say appropriate and your right to say inappropriate things has the same protection as my right to criticize you for doing it.

Those in the drive-by media that do it have a political ax to grind .
The inappropriate vulgar , disrespectful and ignorant comments made in reference to President Bush , anonymously , seem to come from those merely looking to vent ; and many from those who don't even vote or really know the issues . Their opinions are taken for what they usually are-inflation of ones ego by degrading the top man in charge . But the drive-by media and their "agenda" is disgraceful . Referring to a sitting president as "Mr"; while never failing to call Carter & Clinton "President". Those two couldn't defend a station wagon full of nuns from a snowstorm in July ; and their record proves it . President Bush has had more on his plate than most presidents -yet , while he fights to keep terrorism off our shores ; maintain our national security , you have to wonder who in their right mind would try and keep him from doing that job ? And WHY ?

I agree that it's a childish way to show disrespect. Even if you don't like the President he is still the President.

I find it interesting when media people refer to Bill Clinton as President Clinton and call the President Mr. Bush.

George Washington was called His Excellency before he was president. He decided to be called Mr. President. During the Revolution, the British generals would send correspondence to him addressed just "George Washington" and "Mr. Washington". He refused to accept them, telling the messengers that there was no such person there. He would only accept "General Washington" as that was his rank.

I would guess he would have accepted President Washington, but not Mr. Washington. Therefore, we have no Mr. Bush, but we do have a President Bush.

Either greeting is socially appropriate. For years the president has been refered to as Mr. or President. It has not been seen as a sign of disrespect.

Respect has to be earned again, once it is lost. It is more patriotic to be an HONEST American, than to blindly follow a despotic ruler who ignores the United States Constitution that he swore on a bible (twice) to respect and honor.

You really should read the US Constitution and the Declaration of Independence to see why people call him "Mr. Bush," rather than "President."

Because Bush is YOUR president only. He only leads YOU... so for the rest of the world, he could be only a Bush.... Be thankful they nickname him with Mr... You will not ask Iranians to be patriotic to the Bush ...
As for the Americans who call him M.Bush, they can do it and still be patriotic because your country is an example of freedom and democracy no ? you bigot !!
with respects.

I think a lot of people don't want to believe that this country has sunk to this level of depravity under the Bush Regime. People think of the word president as being too respectful. Monster would be more fitting.

Because people are stupid, no matter how "dumb" or what he did. We the people elected him to office. Or at least that's what is portrayed. Whether or not he has earned respect is irrelevant. He is still the president, and there is a certain level of respect that goes with that.
