Check with the Registrar at your college or university. Each institution has its own regulations. The sooner you drop the classes, the greater the chance you could get some $ back.
If you wait too long, you may not be able to drop any of them and risk the chance of getting failing grades in all your classes.
Talk to a counselor/advisor first. Maybe you can drop a few classes and keep 1 or 2 that you feel you can do well in.

It varies from school to school. Call your school registrar (usually found via search for "registrar" on the school website). They'll tell you the various rules. Remember that there might be multiple drop dates ... There might be a date by which you can drop without the class ever showing on your transcript. There might be another date by which you can drop, but you'll get a "W" or equivalent grade to reflect the fact that you chose not to complete the class.
