You're probably just irregular. It all depends on the age too. I've been very irregular since I was 13 and I'm 22 now. Basically my period wouldn't go away for several weeks at a time. Finally last year my doctor diagnosed me with Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding. It means that I wasn't releasing eggs so it would tell my uterus to hold on to the blood for a while. I went on birth control and it became regular. I only took it for 6 months though and it's been very weird since then...skipping, being late, having it for a month then not for several weeks etc. It all depends on your body. I would definitely go to the doctor though.

It is possible that you have an underactive thyroid. But that's just one possibility. Do talk to the doctor, but don't worry too much; I don't know any women who have regular periods. I almost never have mine. But they should be able to check you out and take care of it. It's good that you're getting it taken care of when you're young.

Its normal. Go to your doctor and get the pill to help regulate your periods. My daughter once had her period for 4 months straight before she told either me, her sister(a nurse) or her doctor. She went on the pill, and is fine now

you may be over ovulating, even if you are not sexually active, you might want to consider an oral birth control pill, this will regulate your cycle and also will make your periods lighter and not so heavy. this could also be stress.

Go for your exam and tell the Dr. what is going on so they can do blood work and check your hormones and general health.
