Hi, for a simple answer ... technically you cant.
But for a geeky answer... If you do reverse engineering (hacking the file). IT is called decompilation. SWF can be decompiled to FLA format.
The best decompiler around would be this: http://www.eltima.com/products/flashdecompiler/
You just load the flash file (swf) into it... And it will let you see all the layers, timeline, and actionascript. You could save it as FLA so you could work on it and ad or alter stuff.
Good Luck . Remember , don't steal other peoples stuff. There are copyright issues in many countries.

Mohamed.Mansour has the correct answer, he just left out what both the fla file and the swf files are actually for...
fla - flash editing file, the ENTIRE file, with it you are able to add, edit, and delete stuff from your flash file.
swf - flash "server" file, its basically a highly compressed verison of a swf, that "really isnt supposed to" be edited, i've seen some software programs that WILL do this though...

You need an SWF editor. The official Macromedia Flash 8 editor is pretty expensive but good. There are others from different sources - too many to list here. Look through this list:
