If a team's name is Bayern Munchen why not call it Bayern Munchen? Or if you're going to translate it, why not call it Bavaria Munich rather than stop in the middle?
And why is Milano MEElan? If you left it Italian it would have a much shorter initial i. Why not pronounce it like Milan in English, whith the stress on the second syllable?
And why the pronunciation GalatAsaray? The Turkish place and team is stressed on the second syllable, and the a's are more like u in cup. The sharp a - a as in apple - doesn't exist in Turkish.

I suspect you are complaining about the British press...relax - they also balls up on some of the English teams (the ones that usually turn up once every season the first round of the FA cup) - and commentators trying to pronounce foreign players who now ply their trade in England - very sad indeed.
They presume everyone else will understand them...but some of the time even English listeners can't!

In my humble opinion it is because they are lazy, parochial and know the audience they are playing to. I find it particularly annoying when the refuse to learn the proper pronunciation of players' names, it is after all what they are getting paid for.

They're English and therefore expect the rest of the world to adapt to their inane drivel. and they seem to get overexcited thinking about their fat salaries.
