Some kids at my high school voted this girl as homecoming queen. I'm trying to say this as nice as possible, but she's really overweight. I heard that she this girl said that she was going to stay home for a while if she does get voted. I really don't know what to do about it at this point. So far she is only nominated with 4 other girls. She's really depressed right now and people still had the nerve to vote her from the nominations. I thought the joke would stop after they got her nominated. What should I do?

You sound ever so patronising, if i say so myself. What makes u think that people vote her as a joke. Beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder and to others she may be beautiful. Open up your mind and see beauty beyond what the media brainwashes you to see. There is nothing wrong with her nominations, its ur attitude that needs adjustment. I hope the girl wins.

Maybe it's not a joke, or some people aren't voting as a joke. Is she actually very nice, or well-known? Sometimes too, kids who aren't the prettiest or most popular are happy to see another kid who isn't the classic beauty get something. They could be voting for her based on that.
If I were you, I'd make sure there were no plans to sabotage things for her, a la the movie "Carrie." If I were her, I'd buy a plus-size formal dress and smile pretty as I took my crown.

No one who is nominated has to accept the nomination. And if these so called jokesters actually got her elected then I guess the jokes on them, isn't it.
She should show up in the most beautiful dress that she can find and laugh in their faces!

depression is no joke ! take it to the homecoming committee to have the nomination dropped an that a written formal apology to her for the school to see should be given signed by those who taught this was a "joke"

Some kids are really evil and there ought to be a special hell for the likes of them.

She feels like an unusual case considering maximum Down Syndrome all human beings is mentally retarded. i be attentive to that some do have ordinary intelligence yet maximum all human beings is reasonably retarded.
