If you can't count...better start with 1...2....3....4....

^_^

so that's 7 hours and 55 minutes i do believe..

Here were my steps:

8:15am to 4:15pm(assuming) is 8 hours
But she leaves at 8:20 so just take 5 minutes off the actual time: 7hrs 55min

This time is based on 12 hour intervals sixty minute hours and sixty second minutes. This time always moves to the right from AM to PM so you subtract the AM from the 12PM because PM starts at mid day and AM starts at mid night. the colon seperates the minutes from the hours, so twenty minutes minus sixty minutes is forty we know its sixty because with zeros you take a point from the number to the left to make it eleven colon sixty then you subtract eight from eleven which is three : forty. Now the AM is taken care of. With PM you add that time to your AM solution which appears as 3 hours colon 40 minutes plus 4 hours colon 15 minutes. Since the minutes do not add up to sixty or more you just show that total which is 55 and your hours as 7. Thus your completed answer is 7:55. Its convoluted but if you memorize the basics it will become second nature since we use hours and minutes all the time in the real world.
