The Patriot Act has several names these days, but it commonly referred to as "The Patriot Act." So any of you neocons who want to bring up a technical argument regarding the name I've used can just put that argument to rest right now.

With that said, is the Patriot Act illegal? Here is the text of the First Amendment of the United States of America's Constitution.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

Based on the text of the First Amendment, am I a terrorist for disagreeing with Bush and wanting him impeached, prosecuted and imprisoned for treason?

Actually, I want every member of the House and the Senate prosecuted for treason who voted for the Patriot Act. Bush first though.

George Bush, Dick Cheney and Donald Rumsfeld are flying on Air Force One. The President looks at the Vice President, chuckles, and says, "You know, I could throw a $1000 bill out the window right now and make somebody very happy."

The Vice President shrugs and says, "Well, I could throw 10 $100 bills out the window and make 10 people very happy."

Not to be outdone, the Secretary of Defense says, "Of course, then, I could throw 100 $10 bills out the window and make a hundred people happy."

The pilot rolls his eyes and says to his co-pilot, "Such arrogant asses back there. Hell, I could throw the three of them out the window and make 56 million people really happy."

The whole of the Constitution is void, not just the parts that are in direct conflict with the "Patriot Act", If this government wants to alter the words of the Constitution during times of war, then they should allow gay marriages, and abortion. You can not use the established laws that govern a people to be miss-represented one minute, and want to back them the next, It's is unlawful, and violates the rights of not only the individuals that are being targeted, but the whole people whom these laws govern.

With that said if our government, whom I backed in many instance, decides to go on with the way there deciding to manipulate the laws of the land, then we as a people have the right to get rid of the lot of them, and re-establish the laws and government of said land, as our four fathers once did.

Today our government has committed crimes against the people they suppose to protect, and then trying to spread the tainted principles of our government to others. If our government can be so easily altered when we our threatened, not by other governments (as in other wars)but by individuals(terrorist group), then it will completely crumble at the face of a greater threat, so we need to change the government, before such threats come across(Rome was once a super power, and took down many other super powers of there time, but were ruined by barbarians(terrorist), because they became decadent, and to comfortable with the way they were living, and if we continue to allow our government to coax us into this false dream, then we to shall fall) .

Its time for the people to start using there power of the people, powers set forth in both the constitution, the laws of the lands, the heavens, and the declaration of independence.
This government has committed a long train of abuses that were outlined in the declaration to separate ourselves from the previous government, are the same responses we need to separate ourselves from the current government, and re-establish it therein. This government abuses have been set over it’s inter existence, sometimes open to the public, other times hidden, yet still affects the public.

And if this fails we need to follow suits, although I disagree with there tactics, of the NRA, and bare arms just incase this government really needs to be corrected......So that we may insure liberty to ourselves and our posterity

Your hostility drowns the message....

I would not be surprized if half of the congress did not read the act before voting on it...

Your time would be better spent running for office yourself, or helping people who think the same way you do run for a seat in the government.

I would like to see more regular people become elected officials, not only the rich and well to do.

that ought to be a stable element. yet i do no longer see it going on. extremely i've got faith Obama and his supporters will make comprehensive use of the regulation to develop their very own schedule. some conservatives who supported the regulation might locate themselves objectives of an identical regulation. The fools in the two events by no skill draw close that as they strengthen the capacity of the government they strengthen the prospect that capacity would be used on them.

No. The Patriot Act is legal and constitutional.

There were some problems with the first version, but those were fixed in the 2006 renewal.

Simple answer to the patriot question, no it's not illegal. I, for one, would rather not witness any more 911 events.

It's your right to disagree with the President. But he hasn't committed any impeachable offense.

Yes it's illegal and it doesn't even make good, common sense.
Which means that it will go over well with everyone who supports Bush!
