are called Asian Americans, shouldn't white people be called European Americans. After all, Japanese people have white skin too, but we don't call them white.

Yes they should. But if you're living in America and white, you are automatically thought of as American, no matter where you came from. European American would be politically correct. Does that mean the white people who come from south African are African Americans? Tough.

Oh come now the only reason that African Americans are called that is because we needed some sort of inclusion. White americans dont need to be included because that was already taken care when they were settlers. All Japanese people dont have white skin. If i were you i would go and download a picture of hirohito and we dont call them white because they are not of European descent.

Black ppl aren't all African Americans. There are many disapora in Central/South america and the Islands, I prefer Black . AA is a particular diaspora that came from Africa on slave ships to this particular country. As for White ppl sometimes I hear ppl say that they are italian American or Irish american, they usally state there anscetral homeland then American. We can look at faces and tell chracteristics If I saw some one who had white skin and looked Asian we assume they are Asian. Its up to each person to define themselves, I don;t get too wrapped up into it Rase is something that was invented

Good point. Also, there are white people living in Africa, so if they move to the US, do we call them African-American? In actuality, people from India tend to be darker than "black" people so why do we not call them black as well? They are the true black people and black people are actually more brown and white people are more pink and Asians are more yellow.

LOL. Heck, what's in a label anyway? Koreans and some other Asian/Orientals are light colored too. It makes America... well, U.S. an interesting country - a virtual mixing pot of cultures, race with their beliefs. An awesome mixture IMHO, and a colorful history to boot. And no other country can boast of that, no matter the skin color.

Going back to labels.... Me? Call me perpetually tanned then. I'm quite saitisfied with the label simply being... human. ^_^

In my opinion you should be called an American if you live in America. And by the way not every black person is from Africa, so calling them African American is ignorant.

i personally think you are not african american unless you or your ancestors were actually born in africa,i was born in america,as well as my parents, grandparents,so i guess I'm an american american.i also think the term african american is a political tool,no offence but why would you call yourself an african american if you or your ancestors weren't born there?
