Plains and Uplands of Europe - There are four (4) major land regions:
a. The Northwestern Highlands - Stretches the far north of Europe. Not good for farming because of steep slopes and thin soil. Has a successful timber industry.
b. North European Plain - Covers half of Europe from European Russia to France.
c. Central Uplands - Located in the southern part of Europe. It is a region of highlands made up of mountains and plateaus, large raised areas of mostly level land. It is rocky and not good for farming, but in Spain and in Portugal, people raise goats, and sheep and is mined for minerals.
d. Alpine Mountain System - Mountains that stretch from Spain to the Balkan Peninsula. The Alps are the highest. The mountains and valleys are used for small scale farming.

Russian Plains and Uplands:

b. West Siberian Plain - Largest plain in the world.
c. Central Siberian Plateau - Slopes upward from the East Siberian Plain
