OSU coach Woody Hayes began the biggest rivalry. Hayes wouldnt even say Michigan he referred to MI as the state up north. Rumor has it he even pushed his car back into Ohio to keep from having to buy gas in MI. Ohio State lost regularly to Michigan the first 50 years but Hayes changed that and the last 50 have been evenly matched. Current OSU coach Tressel has beaten MI 4 out of 5 times which makes him a god like figure in OSU history.
